Borna
NoonFont · Mahdi Ershadi · 2023

A Persian display typeface by Mahdi Ershadi, drawing on Maghrebi Kufic script to produce a friendly, animated face suitable for both editorial and short body text in Persian, Arabic, Kurdish and Urdu.
About
Borna's character comes from its upward-and-downward tooth rhythms, large open counters and swash alternates, which give it an active quality rooted in children's and young-adult publishing. Its stroke contrast is deliberately reversed to harmonise with the paired Latin companion, Arima Madurai, making it practical for bilingual settings. Available across nine weights with a variable font option, it also supports coloured diacritics for added typographic expression.
Classification
Borna is categorised as display due to its active, playful personality and script-inspired detailing drawn from Maghrebi Kufic, though it is intended for use in body text at smaller sizes. Its swash forms, large counters and reversed stroke contrast mark it as ornamental rather than a neutral text face.
