Sharktooth specimen from Mark Simonson

A text face grown out of an attempt to rationalise Simonson's own handwriting font Felt Tip Roman into regular typographic forms.

About

Sharktooth began as an experiment in turning Felt Tip Roman into a proper typeface, taking its essential underlying shapes and simplifying them into regular, structured letterforms. By the end only glimpses of Felt Tip Roman remained, leaving a distinctly different, legible text face with a lively texture, named for the sharp, angular shapes in many of its letters.

Classification

A text face rationalised from a handwriting font into regular typographic forms, closer to serif construction than to script.
