About
Gertie takes its cue from the title lettering Winsor McCay used on his newspaper comic strip Little Nemo, which ran from 1905 to 1927. Named after McCay's 1914 short Gertie the Dinosaur, generally considered the first animated character with personality, the font is an ultra-bold all-caps spur-serif design for display use, complete with a set of matching dingbats.
