slabgeometric slab
Shakula specimen from ParaType

A 1996 geometric slab derived from Monotype Rockwell, issued in a single heavy weight suited to poster and display work.

About

Designed by Alexey Chekulaev at Double Alex Font Studio, Shakula takes Monotype's Rockwell (1934, Frank Pierpont) as its starting point. The single Medium cut is noticeably heavy, with near-uniform strokes and blocky slab serifs that give it strong presence at large sizes. Published through ParaType, it is tagged for decorative, vintage and poster applications.

Classification

The specimen shows heavy, bracketed slab serifs with near-uniform stroke weight and rounded terminals, consistent with a geometric slab tradition rooted in Rockwell. The extreme weight of the single Medium cut gives it a display character.
