Campeche Variable
Latinotype · Sofia Mohr · 2023

A variable grotesque by Sofia Mohr, spanning width, weight and display axes with a Latin American sensibility drawn from 19th-century grotesque models.
About
Campeche Variable evolved from Mohr's earlier Seriguela project, developing into a distinct system with its own personality rather than a simple extension. Three variable axes — width, weight and display — allow the typeface to shift between compact, functional settings and expressive display use within a single file. The design suits packaging, editorial and branding work where a range of hierarchical levels must coexist without losing visual unity.
Classification
Rooted in late 19th-century grotesque typefaces with Latin American expressive influence, Campeche operates across variable axes of width, weight and display, placing it firmly in the grotesque sans-serif tradition with a contemporary twist.
