Oceanic Gothic specimen from Interval Type

A well-crafted early grotesque from Paris-based Interval Type, designed as the sans-serif companion to the Oceanic serif family with six weights, matching italics and variable font support across extended Latin and Cyrillic.

About

Oceanic Gothic arrived in 2024 as the sans-serif arm of Ilya Naumoff's Oceanic collection, inheriting the distinctive letter details of Oceanic Display within a grotesque framework rooted in late 19th and early 20th century sans design. Twelve styles from Light to Poster, plus a variable font, give it genuine range for editorial and branding work. Extended Cyrillic support and its coordination with the Oceanic serif families make it a practical choice for multilingual typographic systems.

Classification

Early grotesque in the late 19th to early 20th century tradition. Designed as a sans-serif companion to the Oceanic serif family, carrying over distinctive letter details from Oceanic Display into a grotesque structure. Display-forward in its heavier weights but workable in text settings across the range. Variable font available.
