Rooted in Miller & Richard's Grotesque No. 7 and related designs from 1912, Founders Grotesk retains the genre's defining traits — closed apertures, double-storey 'g', spurred 'a' and a serpentine 'S' — while correcting proportional quirks in the numerals and letterforms. Sowersby subtly closes the apertures further as the weight increases, preserving tension across the full range. The result is a grotesque that reads as both familiar and considered, equally at home in branding and editorial work.
