Lyon International specimen from Commercial Type

Kai Bernau's contemporary reading of Robert Granjon's Renaissance serif forms, expanded into a multilingual superfamily covering Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic and Hebrew scripts across text and display optical sizes.

About

Lyon began as a text face rooted in sixteenth-century Granjon models, with detailing deliberately simplified and stripped back to leave crisp, decisive forms with an unapologetic digital quality. Arabic companions by Khajag Apelian and Waël Morcos draw on Naskh and Nastaliq traditions, while Daniel Grumer and Yanek Iontef's Hebrew cuts reference broad-nib models from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Each script family is available in both text and display sizes, with the Latin glyphs optically adjusted to harmonise with the non-Latin counterparts.

Classification

A contemporary interpretation of Robert Granjon's sixteenth-century Renaissance serif typefaces, with simplified and streamlined detailing that retains classical proportions while embracing a visible digital sensibility. Offered in text and display optical sizes across Latin, Arabic and Hebrew scripts.
