An all-caps display face drawn for a New York magazine fashion issue in 2015, drawing on early 20th-century storybook lettering with an unusually extensive set of OpenType alternates.
About
Originally commissioned for the New York Fall Fashion issue, Anker takes its cues from hand-lettered storybook alphabets of the early 1900s. The design offers fifteen stylistic sets covering features such as superscript vowels, descending strokes, tall looped letterforms and multiple variants for S, W and numerals. Released as part of Commercial Type's Vault, its character set is intentionally limited to uppercase and a selection of figures.
Classification
An all-caps display face inspired by early 20th-century storybook lettering, with a rich set of stylistic alternates including superscript vowels, descending letters and curled terminals that mark it as a decorative, period-inflected design rather than a conventional text category.
