A digital revival of Al. Imelli's 1922 'Freak Title' alphabet, redrawn with expanded character support while preserving the original's eccentric, ungainly charm.
About
Sourced from 'Freak Title Nos. 102 and 103' in The Book of Alphabets and Layouts (1922), the typeface balances the original's awkward elegance against contemporary usability. The designer rebalanced the letterforms, added numerals, symbols and alternates, and extended the character set to cover most Western, Central, Northern and Southeastern European languages. The intention throughout was to modernise without erasing the oddities that define the source material.
Classification
A decorative display typeface reviving a 1922 hand-lettered alphabet with eccentric, idiosyncratic letterforms that resist easy categorisation beyond novelty display.
