A conscious reworking of Arial, named after its original designer Robin Nicholas, refining familiar neo-grotesque letterforms across four weights with accompanying italics and OpenType alternates.
About
Robin takes Arial as its explicit starting point, borrowing proportions from letterforms such as the 'a' and 't' while recalibrating them for improved balance and consistency. OpenType features allow switching between curved and straight variants of letters like 'R' and 'Q', as well as round and square dots, broadening the typeface's tonal range within a neutral register. An embedded icon set reimagines the WingDings character sets in a pared-back aesthetic, available in outlined and filled states.
Classification
A neo-grotesque sans-serif explicitly modelled on Arial, retaining familiar letterform geometries while refining proportions and balance. The inclusion of single-storey alternates and OpenType feature variants positions it firmly in the neutral, utility-focused grotesque tradition.
