A neo-grotesque originating from a traced 1972 RSPB letter, rebalanced from a monospaced rounded source into a six-weight family with a supplementary Black.
About
The design traces back to an unidentified monospaced, rounded typeface found in a 1972 RSPB letter, with the typeface named after the letter's addressee. Colophon stripped the monospaced grid and rebalanced the proportions toward a Swiss grotesque sensibility, adding subtle stroke contrast and replacing the original rounded stem terminals with flat horizontal and angled cuts for even typesetting. The result sits between 1960s Swiss rationalism and Bauhaus geometry, available across seven weights with matching italics.
Classification
Described explicitly as neo-grotesque with Swiss 1960s sensibilities and Bauhaus geometric symmetry. Derived from a monospaced rounded source but rebalanced into proportional spacing with horizontal and angled stem terminals.
