A bespoke 54-style type family created for the German public broadcaster SWR, delivered as three variable fonts covering Latin Extended and Vietnamese across 120+ languages.

About

Commissioned by SWR as part of a new corporate design system, the family spans 54 static fonts and three variable fonts across three distinct styles, offering maximum flexibility for print, screen and broadcast applications. The project was led by Ralph du Carrois with mastering by Christoph Köberlin, and is designed to give SWR full typographic independence from third-party licensing. Extended Latin and Vietnamese script coverage supports more than 120 languages.

Classification

A bespoke sans-serif family designed for broadcast and multi-platform use, with three stylistic variants and a variable font offering suggesting humanist proportions optimised for screen legibility.
