A sharp-cornered grotesk in ten weights with italics, drawn in 2002 and redrawn through 2025 with a wink to the early Roman grotesks.
About
ARS Region mixes an even, industrial stroke with playful details: curvy bowls on the bolder B, P and R, an on-stroke K, a Baskerville-style ampersand and an open-tailed g that closes up in the titling feature. Its sibling ARS Regional straightens those curves for a more sober look. Ten weights, matching italics and Latin Extended coverage of around 260 languages.
Classification
A grotesk that the foundry places alongside Breite and Akzidenz Grotesk, Helvetica, Folio and Franklin Gothic: sharp terminals, even industrial weight distribution, with early-grotesk Roman quirks such as a Baskerville-derived ampersand and open-tailed g.
