Ever specimen from Alias

High-contrast serif where the outer serifs are dropped from angled characters to establish a repeating triangular motif.

About

Ever has large shapes drawn freely rather than constructed, giving it a textural directness that references early DTP serifs like Emigre's Matrix and the look of carved letterforms. The defining move is removing the outer serif from triangular characters – v, w and x – so their angular geometry becomes pronounced. That triangle becomes a visual thread through the whole design.

Classification

High-contrast serif built around a recurring triangular motif. The outer serif is dropped from diagonal characters – v, w, x – to let their angular geometry dominate and unify the design. References early DTP serifs like Emigre's Matrix and the aesthetics of letter carving.
