Armin Hofmann's thin, hand-drawn lettering for a 1961 Kunsthalle Basel catalogue, turned into a coherent typeface.
About
Kunsthalle takes the lettering from Hofmann's cover for Moderne Malerei seit 1945 and rebuilds it from the geometry taught in Basel's foundation course. Strokes and circles stop short of each other, so air runs through the letters. It is one light weight, made for posters and exhibition titles.
Classification
A thin geometric display face built from strokes and arcs in the Basel basic-design manner: a circular O, an S from semicircles and open junctions where strokes meet curves.
