A bilingual Hebrew and Latin revival of the Bezalel catalogue's 'Sefardi' typeface, reanimated through vintage Tel Aviv cinema posters and shaped by Jugendstil letterform traditions.
About
Mugrabi Display is the headline-optimised half of a two-part family, preserving the pronounced tension between heavy verticals and fine horizontals that characterises the original Sefardi type. The design traces its roots to Jewish printing in Europe and was revived with reference to film posters from the Mugrabi Cinema in Tel Aviv. Version 3.0 adds an original Latin companion, making the family fully bilingual across an extensive range of languages.
Classification
A high-contrast Hebrew display typeface rooted in Jugendstil letterforms, characterised by strong verticals against delicate horizontals and a square, ornate structure. The display-specific cut is paired with a separate text companion, confirming its display classification.
