Colonel

displaystencil
Colonel specimen from 205TF

A stencil typeface by Damien Gautier built around three capital series – Cut, Rounded and Sharp – each distinguished by its terminal treatment, with a fourth Lowercase series completing the family.

About

Released by 205TF in 2010, Colonel offers three 'Capital' series whose only point of difference is the edge finish: bevelled, rounded or sharp. The typeface is deliberately heavy, making it most suitable for titling and visual identity work. Accents on the capitals were designed to permit dense setting, and the Lowercase series extends the family into a more conventional text-capable form.

Classification

A stencil display typeface with three capital series differentiated solely by terminal treatment – bevelled, rounded and sharp – placing it firmly in the display/stencil category. The heavy colour and uppercase-first orientation reinforce its display purpose.
