Karrik
Velvetyne · Jean-Baptiste Morizot, Lucas Le Bihan · 2020

A vernacular grotesque that keeps the uneven widths and missing optical corrections of early sans lettering on purpose.
About
Karrik is rooted in vernacular typography, holding onto the weight disadjustments and uneven letter widths that mark early sans-serif lettering rather than correcting them away. Jean-Baptiste Morizot and Lucas Le Bihan added a stylistic set of chaotic, randomised uppercase forms as tribute to uneven garage signage and nameless, long-defunct foundries.
Classification
Deliberately keeps the weight disadjustments, missing optical corrections and uneven widths of early vernacular sans lettering. A stylistic set of chaotic uppercase alternates pays tribute to uneven garage lettering and obscure discontinued foundries.
