A script typeface built from the amateur calligraphy on the cover of a 1970s French gay liberation magazine.
About
Interlope revives the hand-lettered cover of Interlopes, a magazine put out by Lyon's Homosexual Liberation Group between 1977 and 1979. Gabriel Dubourg kept the DIY spirit of the original amateur calligraphy rather than refining it away. A wide range of ligatures and ornamental alternates lets the digital font mimic the fantasy of the original.
Classification
Modelled on the hand-drawn lettering from the cover of Interlopes, a magazine published by Lyon's Homosexual Liberation Group in the late 1970s. Keeps the DIY, amateur calligraphic character of the source rather than smoothing it into a polished script.
