Basteleur specimen from Velvetyne

A bold, ball-terminalled slab serif drawn with the Tarot de Marseille's Magician card in mind.

About

Basteleur takes its name and its bulbous, cooperblack-flavoured character from Le Bateleur, the Magician of the Tarot de Marseille. Keussel built a blend of medieval-tinged and slab-serif forms around that card's lemniscate hat shape. A 2022 update added Moonlight, a lighter and sharper weight, alongside the original bold.

Classification

Bold, ball-terminalled slab serif with a blobby cooperblack-like character, designed around the Tarot de Marseille's Magician card. A 2022 update added a lighter, sharper weight alongside the original bold.
