A fully revised and expanded revival of Justin Bihan's VG5000, a bitmap typeface built on the fixed character matrix of the 1984 Philips VG5000 home computer, issued here in three weights with shifted italic variants and an extensive set of inclusive-writing glyphs.
About
Constructed on a pixel grid multiplied fourfold from the original 8×10-point matrix, the design preserves deliberate mechanical awkwardnesses – angled terminals, original-style accents – as traces of the source hardware. Italic styles are achieved through systematic horizontal shifts within the grid rather than drawn inclination. The character set is substantially expanded beyond the original, incorporating emoji history references, VG5000 game iconography and a wide range of experimental ligatures designed specifically for gender-inclusive French orthography.
