Designed by Valentin Chauveau and co-signed by Léna Salabert-Triby, the typeface grew from workshops exploring non-binary typography, including sessions with Collletttivo and the Bye Bye Binary collective in Brussels. Its defining feature is a system of cut-letter ligatures incorporating the point médian, resolving a common readability criticism of the device while avoiding ostentation. Released under a free licence, it was commissioned by the Théâtre National Wallonie-Bruxelles for the Centre d'Art Maison Gertrude identity, which gives the family its name.
