BBB Karrik
Typothèque Bye Bye Binary · Clara Sambot and Quentin Lamouroux · 2022

A fork of Jean-Baptiste Morizot and Lucas Le Bihan's Karrik, extended by Clara Sambot and Quentin Lamouroux with inclusive glyphs built from cut and baseline-shifted letterforms.
About
Developed at the invitation of Kidnap Your Designer for the visual identity of Brussels theatre La Balsamine, BBB Karrik adapts the original Karrik grotesque to accommodate gender-inclusive typography. The inclusive glyphs are constructed by cutting characters and shifting them to sub- and superscript positions, deliberately disrupting the typographic grey. Released under an open licence, it was used in La Balsamine's seasonal journals for 2022–23 and 2023–24.
Classification
BBB Karrik is a fork of Karrik, a grotesque sans-serif by Jean-Baptiste Morizot and Lucas Le Bihan released on Velvetyne Type Foundry. It retains the grotesque structure of the original while adding inclusive gender-neutral glyphs constructed from cut and baseline-shifted characters.
