A two-style tribute to Berlin pairing an ornate calligraphic script with an all-caps wood-type grotesque, released in 2017 by Ivan Gladkikh and the TypeType team.
About
TT Berlinerins Script draws on contemporary calligraphy to evoke modern Berlin, offering 998 glyphs with over 240 swashes and an extensive OpenType feature set. TT Berlinerins Grotesk takes its cue from wood-type poster lettering of the early 20th century, providing uppercase-only setting with unusual ligatures and two stylistic sets for the ampersand. The pairing was conceived as a single design statement around Berlin's simultaneous historicity and modernity.
Classification
A two-style pairing combining a calligraphic script with 998 glyphs and a wood-type-inspired all-caps grotesque, both conceived as display faces. The family resists a single category, but the display intent and paired-design concept place it firmly in the display grouping.
