A single-weight backslope display face combining the casual informality of Comic Sans with the slanted energy of street art tag lettering, originally conceived for a documentary film title.
About
Designed by Denis Bashev for the documentary Sasha from Russia, Windward fuses the familiar looseness of Comic Sans with the dynamic lean of graffiti tags to create an expressive titling typeface. The font was completed in collaboration with type designer Mikhail Strukov, who translated the initial vector sketches into a fully functioning font file. It includes standard ligatures, swashes, contextual ligatures and one stylistic set, with broad Latin and Cyrillic language support.
Classification
A backslope display typeface drawing on the informal energy of Comic Sans and street art tag lettering. Its slanted, gestural character places it firmly in the display category with script-adjacent traits.
