A narrow geometric sans inspired by DIN and vintage Leica advertising, built around a lozenge form with semi-circular apices on the A and Y and a single-storey lowercase a.
About
Karben 205 is the more distinctive of two related families from Talbot Type, distinguished from its sibling Karben 105 by its retained semi-circular influence at the apex of the A and Y, and a single-storey lowercase a. Spanning five weights from Light to Black, it is designed for both text and display use, with a clean, even utility that the designer found well-suited to a monospaced variant. The lozenge-based construction gives the family a mechanically coherent character rooted in the German functionalist tradition.
Classification
A geometric sans-serif with a distinctive lozenge-derived construction, DIN-influenced proportions and a narrow, utilitarian character. The semi-circular apex on the A and Y and single-storey lowercase a distinguish it from its sibling Karben 105.
