A modular display family built on an 8x7 grid of squares, offered in Block, Block Stencil, Pixel and Pixel Box variants, with both upper and lower case retained.
About
Working in the tradition of Herbert Bayer's Universal and Wim Crouwel's New Alphabet, Kampen restricts itself entirely to squares conforming to an 8x7 matrix. Two structurally distinct variants — Block and Pixel — share the same underlying grid logic, while a stencil cut of the Block style adds a third practical option. The designer chose to keep upper and lower case, departing from the single-case idealism of its predecessors.
Classification
A modular, grid-based display typeface constructed on an 8x7 matrix of squares, placing it firmly in the tradition of Bauhaus and De Stijl geometric experimentation. Its pixel/block construction and stencil variant align it with display rather than text use.
