Buam specimen from Stawix Foundry

A display typeface from Stawix Foundry whose swelling, pressurised letterforms take their name from the Thai word for a surge of overflowing energy.

About

Available in seven weights with matching italics and full variable font support, Buam's forms are deliberately expanded and taut, designed to command attention at large sizes on screen or in print. The family ships with an extensive set of OpenType features including 13 stylistic sets, fractions, tabular figures and alternates, giving designers considerable control over the details. Its 593-glyph character set covers Latin Western and Central/Eastern European ranges including Turkish.

Classification

A display typeface with inflated, swelling letterforms designed for large-size use. The deliberately expanded, pressurised forms place it firmly in the display category, closer to a geometric sans at its core but with exaggerated proportions that defy straightforward subcategory placement.
