A soft-serif typeface by Laurenz Brunner and Stefan Fitze, reviving the rounded, bulbous tradition of Cooper Black and Windsor for contemporary display and text use.
About
Designed with deliberately rounded stroke endings and swelling serifs, Bernie revisits a style that peaked in the 1970s and has seen few serious interpretations since. The family spans four weights from Regular to Black, each carrying the same warm, cushioned character while remaining legible at text sizes. Alternate glyphs and a full manicule set extend its expressive range.
Classification
Bernie belongs to the soft-serif tradition characterised by rounded, bulbous serifs and swelling strokes, tracing its lineage through Cooper Black, Windsor and American Typewriter back to Lucian Bernhard's bold poster lettering of the 1920s.
