Sharp Grotesk Pan Euro takes the original Sharp Grotesk's industrial neo-grotesque architecture – built on 19th-century wood type proportions and Frutiger's systematic design approach – and adds Greek and Cyrillic character sets to the extended Latin base. Released in April 2023, it gives designers working across European and Slavic markets access to the family's celebrated width and weight range within a unified system. The result is a workhorse grotesque capable of anchoring multilingual editorial, brand, and UI work without sacrificing typographic personality.
Classification
Neo-grotesque with a deliberate industrial character, drawn from 19th-century condensed wood type proportions and developed through Frutiger's systematic design methodology. Low contrast, high x-height, vertical stress, relatively closed apertures. Available across a broad width axis spanning ultra-condensed to ultra-extended. The Pan Euro variant extends the base Sharp Grotesk Latin character set to include Greek and Cyrillic scripts, released as part of Sharp Type's April 2023 international expansion of the family.
