A monospaced companion to Marc Rouault's ITC Bookman-derived Redward, released in six weights with true italics and a fully variable design space for print and screen.
About
Redward Mono draws on the wide proportions, tall x-height and slab-like serifs of the broader Redward superfamily, itself a re-imagining of Edward Benguiat's ITC Bookman filtered through the visual language of bodegas, hole-in-the-wall restaurants and internet cafes. Available in six weights from Thin to Black, each with a true italic, the family ships as a fully variable font spanning weight, slant and mono axes. The letterforms are defined by contour rather than stroke, lending each weight a visceral, almost brutalist quality that distinguishes it from more restrained monospaced serifs.
Classification
Redward Mono is a monospaced member of the Redward superfamily, itself derived from the ITC Bookman tradition with pronounced slab-like serifs, wide proportions and a tall x-height. Its bracketed serifs and strong stroke contrast place it firmly in the slab serif category.
