A monospaced cursive script based on a handwritten letter from 1904, combining the grid regularity of a typewriter font with the character of period handwriting.
About
Greenwood is drawn from a letter written by a Mr J. G. Greenwood to a branch of NatWest bank in Oxfordshire, dated 6th June 1904. Its uniform stroke width and equal glyph widths give it the functional grid of a monospaced font, while the cursive letterforms lend a distinctive, period-appropriate character. The combination makes it workable in extended text as well as decorative settings.
Classification
A monospaced, unmodulated cursive script with uniform stroke width and equal glyph widths. It straddles the mono and script categories, but its defining technical feature is the monospacing, making mono the primary classification.
