A calligraphy-based display sans with six weights, swash alternates and a variable font version, released by ParaType in 2018.
About
Designed by Viktor Fitzner with character set expansion by Alexander Lubovenko, Wak pairs smooth, simplified letterforms with sharp calligraphic details. Lowercase letters follow the same structural pattern as the uppercase, giving the face an unusual consistency across cases. The family includes alternative glyphs, ligatures, and initial and final swash forms, suiting short-form display use at screen and print sizes.
Classification
A sans serif with calligraphic origins, its stroke character and details derive from hand lettering while maintaining simplified, smooth letterforms. The lowercase mirrors uppercase construction, a distinctive structural choice reinforcing its informal calligraphic character.
