A single-weight decorative serif drawn at SoftUnion in 1994, tracing its lineage through Raleigh back to Carl Dair's Cartier of 1967.
About
Designed by Nikolay Vsesvetsky, Ralenta takes the Extra Bold end of the Cartier-derived Raleigh tradition as its starting point. The family offers only one style, making it a specialist display face rather than a text workhorse. Its historical chain runs from Dair's 1967 Cartier through David Anderson's Raleigh redrawing and the 1977 multi-weight expansion by Adrian Williams and Robert Norton.
Classification
A decorative serif with roots in Carl Dair's Cartier (1967) and its derivative Raleigh; the single Extra Bold weight and ornamental character place it firmly in the display category.
