A Soviet-era oldstyle serif first drawn in 1986 for a Moscow publishing house, revised and expanded in 2021 to cover extended Cyrillic, Greek and Western Latin.
About
Originally designed by Isay Slutsker, Svetlana Yermolayeva and Emma Zakharova for the Moscow publisher Mysl, the typeface draws on Garamond's mid-16th-century French models, filtered through the Soviet Politizdatovskaya tradition. The 2021 revision by Natalia Vasilieva substantially expanded the character set while retaining the calm, slightly conservative texture suited to sustained reading. The regular weight includes small caps, and all four styles support Western and Central European Latin alongside extended Cyrillic and Greek.
Classification
An old-style serif inspired by the work of Claude Garamond, with characteristics typical of French mid-16th-century typefaces. Extended Cyrillic, Greek and Latin coverage places it firmly in the humanist oldstyle tradition.
