Manul

ParaType · Nikita Gaiduk

displaydisplay sans
Manul specimen from ParaType

A variable display sans by Nikita Gaiduk with three eccentric stylistic poles: an ultrabold high-contrast Fat, a narrow low-contrast Slim, and a balanced Athletic cut.

About

Named after the Pallas's cat, Manul uses the animal's seasonal physique as a conceit for its three styles: Fat, Slim and Athletic, each representing a different weight and contrast extreme. The variable version interpolates freely between them, giving designers scope to tune expression for headlines, billboard copy, film credits and logo work. The design leans deliberately expressive rather than neutral, suiting confident branding contexts over restrained editorial use.

Classification

A high-contrast display sans with three distinctive stylistic extremes unified into a variable font, designed primarily for large-scale headline and branding use rather than body text.
