An experimental display family from 2001 built on primitive geometric forms, deliberately avoiding conventional letterform refinement, with a woodcut style and companion pictogram set.
About
Designed by Zakhar Yaschin as part of the 'One Touch' project for ParaType, KvadratZ explores letterform construction through reduction to primitive shapes. The Wood style imitates woodcut letters, adding a rougher, textural variant to the family. Four styles in total, including a pictogram set, make it suited to advertising and display work where visual novelty is the priority.
Classification
An experimental display family built from primitive geometric forms, with a woodcut style and pictogram set. The deliberate avoidance of conventionally refined letterforms places it firmly in the display/experimental category.
