Victor Caruso's 1976 ITC redrawing of Rudolf Koch's 1927 Kabel, extended to Cyrillic by Tagir Safayev at ParaType in 1994.
About
Originally drawn for the International Typeface Corporation based on Koch's Klingspor-era geometric sans, ITC Kabel preserves the circular construction and slightly idiosyncratic letterforms of the 1927 original. Five weights run from Book to Ultra, covering display and short text use. The Cyrillic extension, added by Tagir Safayev at ParaType in 1994, broadens its reach across Latin and Cyrillic scripts.
Classification
Geometric sans-serif revival of Rudolf Koch's 1927 Kabel, redrawn by ITC in 1976; the design is rooted in circular geometric forms characteristic of the Bauhaus-era sans tradition.
