A single-weight display face from 1995 drawing on Slavic vjaz calligraphy, with dramatically condensed proportions and curled ornamental terminals.
About
Designed by Sergey Shanovich at TypeMarket in 1995, the face takes its visual cues from vjaz, the compressed ornamental script used in medieval Russian ecclesiastical manuscripts. The letterforms are strikingly tall and narrow, with elaborately curled terminals that give each character a decorative, handcrafted character. Only a Regular style is available.
Classification
The specimen shows tall, extremely condensed letterforms with pronounced curled terminals and ornamental serifs drawn from Slavic vjaz calligraphic tradition. The decorative swash details and compressed proportions place it firmly in the display category.
