Pavel Kolchanov's 2022 design takes the high-contrast vertical stress of Walbaum and German display serifs as its historical reference point, then deliberately distorts that tradition with superelliptical bowls and techno-inflected joints intended to read as machine-made. The rigid attachment of ball terminals amplifies the synthetic quality without tipping into parody. At headline scale it holds a tension between decorative elegance and cold precision, suiting editorial, branding and poster work.
