Chift specimen from ParaType

A narrow serif family in ten styles split across two optical subfamilies, designed for economical typesetting in periodicals with a Cyrillic that won a special prize at Modern Cyrillic 2009.

About

Chift divides into Text and Display subfamilies, each spanning five weights: the Text cuts use low contrast suited to body copy, while the Display cuts push contrast to extremes with a Hairline and a Black. The condensed proportions make it well suited to column-heavy layouts where horizontal space is at a premium. Its Cyrillic received recognition at the Modern Cyrillic 2009 competition in the Text category.

Classification

A narrow serif with two distinct contrast levels across its ten styles: low contrast for text sizes and high contrast for display, suggesting a transitional approach calibrated for periodical use.
