A monospaced typeface drawn from IBM typewriter faces and a 1954 Hermes Baby, extended to Latin, Greek and Georgian scripts, with a glyph set referencing text-editing interfaces.
About
Outlined from manual sketches informed by IBM Pica, Advocate and Elite type samples alongside an Apple StyleWriter II advert, Arketa fuses analogue warmth with digital precision across six weights from Thin to Bold. Its 752-glyph set includes symbols alluding to digital text-editing tools, making the offline-to-online tension a structural part of the design rather than mere aesthetic gesture. Greek production was handled by George Triantafyllakos and Georgian by Ana Sanikidze of Wicked Letters, with an italic currently in development.
Classification
A contemporary monospaced typeface explicitly rooted in typewriter references – IBM Pica, Advocate and Elite, and a Hermes Baby 1954 – with fixed-width spacing throughout. The foundry classifies it as Typewriter, and its design logic is inseparable from that tradition.
