Narengi
NoonFont · Karim Shahin · 2026

A brush-inspired Arabic and Persian typeface by Karim Shahin, offering nine weights and a variable font with two alternative dot styles, recognised as Best Typeface at Type Tehran.
About
Narengi draws on the fluid movement of a brush to recreate handwritten softness within a structured typographic system. Lighter weights feature elongated horizontal baseline strokes suited to continuous text, while heavier weights shorten those extensions for more efficient headline setting. The typeface covers Persian, Arabic, Kurdish, Urdu and Latin, and offers two dot style variants — Connected (DS1) and Separated (DS2) — selectable via OpenType features.
Classification
A brush-inspired Arabic/Persian script typeface with fluid, calligraphic letterforms. Its flowing strokes and elongated horizontal extensions give it a handwritten quality rooted in calligraphic tradition rather than geometric construction.
