Azar
NoonFont · Mehdi Qassemi, Reza Bakhtiarifard · 2024

A single-weight Arabic and Persian display typeface drawing from Thuluth calligraphy, adapted for modern digital use in book and newspaper titles.
About
Designed by Mehdi Qassemi and developed by Reza Bakhtiarifard, Azar takes the movement and elegance of Thuluth calligraphy as its starting point while reworking proportions and letter construction to meet contemporary font production standards. The result sits between classical Arabic letterform tradition and a refined modern aesthetic suited to headline and poster work. All characters were reconstructed during development to preserve the typeface's personality whilst maintaining legibility.
Classification
Inspired by Thuluth calligraphy but adapted for digital use with modern proportions, Azar is a display typeface designed for titles and headlines rather than body text, placing it firmly in the display category with calligraphic roots.
