displayVictorian wood type
Show specimen from Manufacturas Tipográficas Madrileñas

A 13-layer chromatic display family digitised from a Victorian concave wood type originally issued by Marder, Luse & Co. in 1884, with small caps substituting for the absent lowercase.

About

Based on a wood type from the personal collection of the Familia Plómez letterpress association in Madrid, Show faithfully captures the concave Victorian letterforms of the original Concave family while adding a full set of chromatic layers for colour printing applications. Small caps stand in for the missing lowercase, and the character set covers Central, Eastern and Western European languages. The 13 available layers allow for considerable flexibility in building up coloured compositions.

Classification

A chromatic, multi-layered revival of a Victorian concave wood type originally issued by Marder, Luse & Co. in 1884. The layered construction and decorative concave letterforms place it firmly in the display category.
