A geometric sans-serif derived from the Swiss road signage alphabet SNV 1972, available as a variable font that transitions continuously from Normal through Soft to Round across six subfamilies.
About
Chiasso is built on an engineer's logic: the o and n are constructed from true circles, strokes are near-monoline, and terminals are cut strictly horizontal or vertical. A variable font axis moves the construction from Normal through Soft to Round, the latter evoking forms made by an engraving machine, without abandoning legibility. Seven weights from Thin to Black, each with matching italics, are available across standard and condensed cuts in all three roundness variants.
Classification
Chiasso is a geometric sans-serif rooted in the Swiss road signage alphabet SNV 1972, built on true circles for the o and n, near-monoline strokes, and strictly horizontal or vertical terminals – placing it firmly in the normative, geometric grotesque tradition.
