On a mission to create the world’s biggest index of typefaces from the world’s best type foundries

serifreductive text serifitalic
LD Elsnac specimen from Lazydogs Typefoundry

A five-weight serif that strips letterforms down to their basic parts without losing character.

About

LD Elsnac grew out of chalkboard examples Kai Büschl drew for first-year students at the Designschule München, reducing roman letterforms to their essential parts while keeping a distinct, contemporary look. It runs to five weights with italics, small caps and multiple figure sets, and Lazydogs also supply a beta variable-font version alongside the static family.

Classification

A modernist-leaning serif reduced to its most basic letterforms, developed from chalkboard teaching examples rather than a historical revival.
