The split solid-and-gridded capitals from Palats Sportu station, traced back to a 1984 Mecanorma dry-transfer face.
About
Sport reconstructs the lettering cast for Palats Sportu in the late 1980s, part of a wave of one-off station alphabets by Metroprojekt architects. Florian Hardwig identified the model as New York 30 by Dutch designer Leo Meuffels for Mecanorma, which the architect probably found in a catalogue. Half of each letter is filled, the other half hatched into a grid.
Classification
Reconstructed from the Palats Sportu station lettering, whose source turned out to be Leo Meuffels' New York 30 for Mecanorma (1984). Each heavy capital is split between a solid half and a grid-hatched half, which is pure display ornament.
