Deansgate takes its letterforms from the distinctive sans-serif script used on Manchester's street nameplates, retaining the monoline strokes and slightly squared round forms typical of legible signage faces. Six fonts make up each subfamily – Light, Regular and Bold, each with a complementary italic – with the Bold weights suited to close and distance reading alike. The lowercase references the Transport typeface, bridging the signage heritage with usability in text settings on screen and in print.
